Why should you retire in Dubai?

Dubai… a city everyone thinks of. A framed top tourist destination, exceptional lifestyle, sun-drenched all year round, and a range of lifestyle experiences that put convenience first – think on-demand home services and food delivery at the touch of a button. Life here could not be better for retirees.

Apart from being home to either the greatest or the highest of things, Dubai makes it easier than ever to spend your retirement in a city that never sleeps!

The Dubai retirement visa is your chance to live in the safest fastest-growing and most culturally diverse places in the world. It’s time to enjoy your next exciting chapter.

The UAE government launched a new initiative that allows foreigners over the age of 55 to settle within the country as long as they meet the following financial criteria:

  • Earn a minimum monthly income of AED 15,000 which equates to AED 180,000 (approx. US$4,100) per year.
  • Hold a minimum of AED 1 million in cash savings (approx. US$275,000) in a UAE bank account in a 3-year fixed deposit.
  • Own a property worth at least AED 1 million within the UAE (both mortgage and unmortgaged)

This new visa will allow retirees to live in the country for 5 years, which will automatically be extended.

So why should you retire in Dubai? Here are some reasons:

Weather

The UAE is a country where the sun shines all year round! And if you are not a fan of rain, snow, or cold weather, this is the ideal place to live. In the summer, the temperature rises to 40 degrees, so you can spend all day on the beach and in the water! And the winters are just perfect. Sunshine and pleasant wind make it ideal for dessert, glamping, picnics, and much more!

Strong economy

Dubai has the strongest economy in the Middle East and has seen steady growth in GDP. The Emirati currency is strong and stable when linked to the US dollar and Euro. Another great aspect of Dubai is that all income is tax-free, meaning residents have much greater financial freedom whilst living here. This, combined with economic stability, makes Dubai a great place to retire too. In fact, the Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved a budget of 180 billion dirhams for the fiscal years 2022 – 2024 in the hope of consolidating the emirate’s position in the global economic scale! And the evidence is all around, from infrastructure to innovation, hospitals to architecture.

Safety

Did you know that Dubai was voted the safest city in the world in 2021? In a recent study by Gallup’s 2021 Global Law and Order, the UAE was also ranked first in the safety index, as about 95 percent of residents said they felt safe walking alone at night.

Recent statistics show that Dubai Police recorded a 31.3% drop in crime reports compared to the previous year. In 2022, it also introduced 14 innovative projects to help maintain the safety of the population. This is due to the strict laws and hard-working police forces.

The UAE was also one of the first countries to introduce free Covid 19 vaccination for the public and one of the first countries where all residents were fully vaccinated!

Lifestyle

Dubai has just about every activity you can imagine. Snowboarding in the middle of summer? Golfing on a dessert course? Camel rides, safaris, luxury shopping, and luxury cars – never a dull moment here! For retirees, luxury is right on your doorstep. There are touch-free deliveries, affordable services, and much more everywhere. And everything is air-conditioned, so you can just enjoy the hot days! Dubai is full of glitz and glamour and is home to some of the best restaurants in the world, with numerous fine dining establishments throughout the city.

Culture Diversity

More than 200 nationalities live and work in Dubai. Due to this diversity of expatriate cultures, various events and festivals are celebrated in this city throughout the year. From Christmas to Eid, from Diwali to Ramadan, you can experience and learn everything here, and theatre and art exhibitions have become an important part of this city. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are also famous for their sporting events such as Formula 1 racing, football, paddle tennis, golf, horse racing, rugby, and much more.

Various religions are also practiced in Dubai, so you can find several mosques, churches, temples, and other religious institutions here.

When it comes to housing options, Dubai is a show-stopper! Luxury villas by the beach, sun-kissed apartments next to the canal, thriving gated communities with mansions for families, the list is endless. And the best part? It is all affordable and easy to maintain!
